David Claerebout raced the IM70.3 in Aix-en_provence [France] to grab a slot for the world championships in Mont-Tremblant. He was confident before the race after his good results during the last weeks.
After a good swim part in 30:21min for the 1.9km, David reached T1 on 29th position in AG M25. Once on his TT bike, David started to push quite hard to gain some ground in the AG. After 2:27:40 (avg 36.57km/h) on this demanding bike course, David was near the Top12 of his age category.
To reach his personal goal, David left T2 at high speed covering the first 10.6km in less than 40min! With an half-marathon end time of 1:20:53 (3:49min/km), David ranked himself onto 50th position overall out of more than 1700 finishers. On top this great performance, he grabbed the slot for the world championships by reaching a honourable 4th rank in AG M25, missing the podium by only 30sec…
Congratulations for this great performance from the team and committee!!!
