Jean-Claude Schmitz and Fabrice Coste raced the difficult and hilly middle distance triathlon XL in Gerardmer [France].
A hilly 3x 31.5km bike course (1900m altitude difference) through the well-known ‘ballon des vosges’ and a 3-loop running course around the lake of Gerardmer made it a hard day for everyone.
Jean-Claude finished, exhausted and partly walking through the half-marathon, in 6:29:57 on 701st rank overall out of 1519 athletes at the finish line. Just a couple of minutes behind, Fabrice finished on 726th rank with an end time of 6:33:04.
