Tremendous performance at the last IRONMAN Switzerland in Zurich – national LD triathlon champion Claude Lucas reached 18th rank overall and 3rd rank in AG M30 on his first long distance triathlon ever in 9h09:35 – WHAT A PERFORMANCE!!!
After a very good swim in 54:25min (less than 4min behind winner Jan van Berkel), Claude rode a very hard bike split in 4h53:55 (15th bike time overall and average of 36.75km/h) to set himself on leading position in agegroup M30. A quick start in the marathon (3h16:40) left him on first rank in M30 until ~km32-34, where he started to cramp in his legs. He was forced to slow down a bit, but finally he reached the finish line in 9h09:35, 2nd fastest Ironman time for an X3M’er behind Oliver Godart. WELL DONE Claude!
With his 3rd rank in agegroup M30, Claude has got the qualification to Ironman Hawaii if he grabs his slot on monday!!! Go for it!
UPDATE : Despite getting a qualification for Kona 🌺 Claude did not take the slot because his triathlon budget 💸 is depleted for this year – so next try next year in Austria!!!
