Claude Lucas and Pascal Duhautpas raced the olympic distance triathlon in Messein [France], counting for the Lorraine D3 championships. Fortunately, the race was held under perfect weather conditions with mild temperatures and no rain.
After an excellent swim (2x750m plus 200m running part to T1), both athletes left the water on 11th (Pascal : 24:45min) and 14th overall (Claude : 25:19min) to go on the hilly bike course. After 5km, Claude could close the 30sec gap to Pascal, passed him and pulled away. Despite having some cramps, Claude entered T2 after 1:09:01, followed by Pascal after 1:11:05.
On the 2x5km running course, Claude had some calves and stomach cramps preventing him to show his best performance. After 5km, Pascal passed Claude again and finished the race on 24th overall in 2:21:29. Claude took 28th overall out of 112 athletes with an end time of 2:23:06.
