Duathlon national championships in Ehlerange

CA Belvaux organized the national short distance championships in Ehlerange over the distance 10-40-5km on sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, the weather conditions were extremely severe with hail storms, strong winds and 3°C…. Numerous athletes had to drop out of the race due to cramps and hypothermia…

Best result goes to Claude Lucas on 10th rank overall. After a steady run in 40:30min, he pushed hard to close the gap to the leading group. After the transition to run2, he struggeled a bit due to cramps, nevertheless he managed to keep the pace to finish in 2:18:45. Claude took also the national title in M25 age group.

Gavin Hodgson finished on 14th position after a fast first run split in 37:28min (5.)

Carlo Feltes took 33rd rank overall and 5th in M50, followed by Gian-Marco Bartolini on 42nd rank. Gian-Marco took the national duathlon title in M60 though.

Chris Doyle and Yves Koch were unlucky as they had a DNF due to hyperthermia, Guy Theissen dropped out of the bike part due to a broken chain on his bike…

In the kid’s categories, Jil and Noa Langer took the national title in female Youth C resp. Kids A age groups! Well done!

Finn Schiltz took 3rd rank on the podium in male Kids A age group, Ben Langer finished 2nd overall in combined Kids B & Bambini race.
